Senior Leadership
Larry Young, Founder & CEO: Larry is the inventor of the Envirolock technology and founded TCI in 2016. His responsibilities include business management as well as continued engineering support. Before launching TCI, Larry served as a Business Development Manager for Spence Corrosion Services. Previously, Larry also accumulated over 20 years of supervisory experience in the construction industry. Email Larry
Jim Walsh, COO & Chief Engineer: Jim provides leadership and project development for TCI, overseeing the design, validation, and deployment of EnviroLock. He is a Professional Engineer in the provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan. His distinguished career spans over 30 years in the pipeline industry, serving most recently as a Sr. Engineering Manager for Pembina Pipelines and as a Vice President for Alliance Pipeline. He earned a Bachelor's of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from Western University in 1983. Email Jim

Joe Freedman, Chairman of the Board: Joe works as a private equity investor, providing leadership to a variety of start-up companies. Prior to this Joe worked for 14 years at Brookfield Asset Management as a Senior Managing Partner. He holds a J.D. and an MBA from York University (1994), as well as a B.A. in Economics from the University of Alberta (1990).
Bill Whitelaw, Board Member: Bill brings over 20 years of entrepreneurial experience working with the energy industry. His specialty areas include communications, analytics, and sustainability. In addition to his business ventures, he also currently chairs the Canadian Society of Evolving Energy, advises the Energy Futures Lab, and is an Associate for Daily Oil Bulletin.
Key Advisors
Norman Spence: Norman has been the CEO and President of Spence Corrosion Services for nearly 15 years. He has received multiple certifications for corrosion technology and inspection from the National Association of Corrosion Engineers. He also holds a Bachelor's in Geography from Simon Fraser University (1992). One of TCI's earliest supporters, our research shop is currently hosted at their facility.
Kim Davies: Kim joined Atoll Financial Group in 2014 as their Vice President for Business Development for Energy & Technology in Western Canada. She has expertise in the oil and gas sector as well emerging sectors such as carbon sequestration and hydrogen. Her professional experience also includes founding and leading several start-up firms, while her academic training is in geophysics from the University of Calgary.
Staff
Christine Smith, Business & Data Analytics Manager: Since 2023, Christine has "worn many hats" to support TCI's internal development needs, including grant writing/coordination, strategic business planning, data analysis, and website management. Prior to joining TCI, she gained over a decade of experience working for the Houston-Galveston Area Council and Terracon Consultants. She holds an MBA (2024) and an M.S.
