Leak Protection Goes Both Ways When It Comes To Sewers

Beneath our homes and communities, millions of gallons of wastewater flow through our sewer systems each day. Unfortunately, these systems can quietly degrade over time. Differential settling of soils around joints between household connections and the public main are especially vulnerable to damage, even in newly constructed subdivisions. When this happens, infiltration can occur. Common estimates are that about 30-40% of the sewer system's total load is due to infiltration, which wastes millions of dollars and consumes significant resources. Unfortunately, infiltration is seen as so unavoidable that infrastructure is overbuilt to compensate for this excess usage.

Fortunately, TCI has developed the practical, yet innovative Envirolock Sewer Guard (ESG). Similar to our other designs, our polyurea-based ESG solution is resistant to threats such as corrosion, shifting soils, and third party strikes. Operators will be able to purchase pre-packaged ESG installation kits for standard joints or TCI can design a customized solution to protect longer pipe lengths. The system is maintenance free, cost competitive, and will last for decades.

It can be installed using the same innovative technique as for energy pipelines, meaning that existing water mains do NOT have to be shut-down while being equipped and it can be applied to any length of pipe. Envirolock also meets ANSI NSF-61 standards for all types of joints. Unless a break occurs, the system will last for decades, providing comprehensive infrastructure protection against threats including third-party strikes and external corrosion. If a leak or rupture does occur, TCI's ECS is capable entirely containing it, ensuring that there is no disruption to the delivery of drinking water to your customers until you can plan for maintenance.
